Last Visit Widget
Posted by - NA - on 14 November 2008 01:33 PM

This script presents the user with an acknowledgement of their previous visit in the following format:

'Welcome back visitor! Your last visit was on 30 October 2008 13:06:52'

If this is the visitor's first ever visit, the following text is displayed instead:

'This is your first visit to this page. Welcome!'

This can be a nice way of personalizing the page to individual visitors, and perhaps even gently pointing out to the visitor that 'it's been a while' in certain circumstances. As well as displaying the above date message, an additional piece of text can be added onto the end of the message, as shown below:

'Welcome back visitor! Your last visit was on 30 October 2008 13:06:52 - Glad you've decided to return and check out this month's offers'

Instructions

Selecting this script from the list of scripts, and clicking the button loads the following screen:

There are four straightforward settings that we need to adjust on this screen:

  • Font - Choose the font that you would like to be used when displaying the last-visit message, by clicking on the drop-down and then selecting the desired font.
  • Font Size - Choose the size of font that you would like the last-visit message displayed in, by clicking on the drop-down font size selector and then by selecting the desired size from the list of options. You can chose anything from 6pt - 72pt.
  • Font Color - Select the font color by clicking on the browse button to the right of the text box.
  • Additional Text - Enter any text that you would like to appear immediately to the right of the last-visit text, as shown in the example above.

Once you have adjusted the settings click the button and your last visit script will be inserted into your Web page at the cursor-point.
